Fall In Southern Utah.
it’s finally here the first cold snap that October brings, there was over an inch of Snow on the Boulder Top Yesterday, and Rain Soaked the areas Off the Rim, making for a slippery, cold drive,  anywhere on the mountains.
Temperatures were any where from 45 deg to as cold as 32, are Hands were Bright Red and Stiff with the cold after the release of each beautiful fish.
with the drop in temperature and the cold storm it will turn the fish on to feed like crazy. the Boulders and Thousand Lake mountain, both, have started to fish really well, October Caddis are typically the fly of Choice for us at this time of year, including brown and black Buggers.
The Upper Fremont is still very off color and high with irrigation releases from Johnson valley reservoir, when those releases stop the fishing should be really good up there.
the Lower Fremont just cant seem to catch a break, just as it starts to clear another storm hits, that coupled with the number of Duck hunters in the Bicknell Bottoms, has turned this area into a …. maybe later…. water.
mill Meadow, the reservoir has been lowered, fishing is great at this time, brown buggers fished slow and deep, and Bloody marry flies in sz 14, as well as prince nymphs have all done great for us.
Forsyth, the water level is on the rise, with the draining and repairs that took place earlier on this water its unclear how many fish remain, it was stocked with some smaller Cutthroat recently that should be catchable later next summer.
here are a few pictures from the last couple of weeks on the mountain.

Upper Fremont, has been fishing well, we have been using hopper dropper rigs and picking up some decent fish.
Lower Fremont is off color and the fishing has been slow.
Mill meadow reservoir is full, fishing has been good, the fish are deep now so getting down to them is key, we use double renegades and brown buggers, as well as zug bugs.
Forsyth, the reservoir was completely drained to repair the gate, ( a hydraulic hose went out) lots of fish ended up in the creek below, the reservoir is slowly filling now, I watched it for an hour and did not see any fish rise, (it was just getting really good again this year too.)
Um creek/ seven mile creek.
Fishing has been better on sevenmile, we have been using royal wullf sz12 and Goddard caddis sz 12, UM has been fishing much slower, the fish are holding tight to cover, we have caught some using a Goddard caddis with a small dropper.
Boulder mtn.
The fish have moved to deeper water on some lakes, while cutthroat continue to cruise the shore line looking for small dries, it's kinda slow up there so be patient, colder temperatures this fall will turn the fish back on.
Thousand lake mtn.
The fish are holding deep, we use a full sink line and an assortment of leech patterns and nymphs to catch them.

The Dog Days of Summer Are Here,
The fishing has slowed some on many of the waters that were fishing good, there are still a few selective waters out there though that are great.
Forsyth.
The reservoir is extremely low now, fishing has been good though, I was thrilled to catch a cutthroat in there last night as well as several great tigers, we recommend fishing back swimmer aka water boatmen patterns.
we also did great with prince nymphs and zug bugs sz 14 and 16.
Millmeadow
the reservoir is back up and the fish are schooled in to certain areas on the reservoir move around till you find where they are located and concentrate on working those spots, again prince nymphs work well, we have also used half back nymphs and sz 12 brown buggers.
Thousand Lakes Mtn.
a lot of the lakes here have slowed down, the fish are holding in deeper water now and getting down to the level there feeding on is key. a few patterns that have worked for us.
olive hares ear, sz 14 pheasant tail nymph sz 14 birds nest olive and natural sz 16 simi seal leeches have been great as well as brown buggers sz 12.
Boulder Mtn.
plenty of people up there this year this year it seems.
most of the lakes have been decent to good, at this time of year a good selection of calibaetis patterns are extremely helpful, matching the hatch that is on the lake you are fishing and in some cases matching the stage of the hatch that the fish are feeding on can make or break your success up there, however when the baeitis are up the fish can become pretty crazy smacking anything that resembles the escaping may flies, waiting for a hatch is another great tool for this mountain at this time of year. don't worry you can hone your casting skills in between the hatches.
UM/SevenMile
Um has slowed down, we recommend sz 18 and 20 nymphs dropped below a hopper or caddis and fish the current seams tight to the banks.
Seven mile is the better of the two streams bushy dries on the surface work well, dropping a little nymph below works great too, plenty of construction up there though so make sure you stay and park well out of the way.
Here are a few Pictures from are trips over the last couple of weeks.

This weekend is the second weekend in July, that means a few more waters open up on the Boulder. also Manning Meadow Reservoir opens this weekend, fishing is limited to artificial only on most of these waters with a few other special regulations be sure to check the proclamation before you go.
MillMeadow reservoir.
the Reservoir is pretty low right now, but the fishing has been great! this is one of my favorite waters to hit mid summer, the crowds are low and the fish can be found cruising just off shore and are big! I simply sight fish to cruising fish with an assortment of small nymphs and then try to hold on and not break off yet another 20 inch brown on 4 x tippet.

Forsyth.
the Reservoir is still completely full, several people ive spoken to are doing well there trolling, we fish small buggers, and sz 14 zug bugs from are float tubes and have been doing awesome.
Thousand Lake Mountain.
there are still plenty of damsel flies about, we have been doing great with dries and nymphs both, the fish have moved to deeper water on these lakes and a tube is very helpful.
Fremont River.
The upper Fremont still has it’s increased summer flows, I think its been clearer this year then years past, the fishing has been fantastic, we fish a fat albert sz 14 and other bushy dry flies and have been doing great.
the Lower Fremont has been great the last few days as well, Caddis, PMD’s, Yellow Sallies, Tricos, take your pick they have all been hatching on both the upper and Lower and the fish have been going crazy for dry Flies.
the hatches are on and fishing has been great in both the UM creek and Sevenmile Creek areas as well.
if you Love to Fish Dry Flies its ON!
